Egads! Orchs!

...as in more orchids. Despite the terrible Lord of the Rings pun, these are some of my favorite blooming orchids. Though they are in my kitchen now, they spent all summer on my shady northern-exposure porch.

And now I miss the nineties sitcom Northern Exposure. Thanks, Blogger, you did it again.

The pink flower belongs to a Lowe's-purchased phaleanopsis while the white flowers are on a Dendrobium Muang Thai.

Last Summer Images (2012)

What would a plant blog be without pictures of plants? Here are some of my back deck favorites from summer 2012.

Images are (in order) of typical Venus flytrap, Mariposa orchid, Sarracenia "Scarlett Belle," Purple Heart, a NOID paphiopedilum orchid, Sarracenia purpurin, and various phaleanopsis-type dendrobium orchids mounted to a cedar raft.

Welcome to My Virtual Greenhouse of Death

At one point or another most of us try growing plants. Some succeed, most fail to some extent. As such, this blog is the story of my failures. Some entries might look like success; don't let them fool you, though. All of my carnivorous plants, orchids, and others are in some stage of dying. They just may be flourishing as they do.

I appreciate all those who view this site: your patronage is welcome, as are your comments. Happy plant killing!
